Toronto/CMEDIA: June as Pride Month in Toronto would be officially proclaimed on June 1 at 12: 30 am at Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen St. W on the podium roof by Deputy Mayor Jennifer McKelvie (Scarborough-Rouge Park) joined by Councillor Chris Moise (Toronto Centre), other members of City Council, Grandmother Dorothy Peters, Jiima’aaganing (Seine River) First Nation, Grant Gonzales, Co-Chair, Pride Toronto, and Sherwin Modeste, Executive Director, Pride Toronto and raise the Progress Pride flag, a news release said.

The City will hold flag-raising ceremonies, for the first time this year, at Mel Lastman Square at North York Civic Centre, Albert Campbell Square at Scarborough Civic Centre, and the Etobicoke Civic Centre on June 1 at 9 a.m. The Progress Pride flag will be raised for the day at all civic centres.

Running from Thursday, June 1 to Sunday, June 25, Pride festivities this year would culminate in the Pride Parade, one of the largest events of its kind in North America.

The Pride Festival has been a vibrant celebration of Toronto’s diverse 2SLGBTQ+ communities, since 1991.

The City’s commitment to promoting an inclusive and equitable environment for all employees, service recipients, residents, and visitors would would be reinforced by this year’s Pride Month celebration.
