Avalanche in Pakistan’s Gilgit-Baltistan region leaves 10 dead, 26 injured

CMEDIA: Pakistan’s Astore district of Gilgit-Baltistan region was hit by a snow avalanche on Saturday killing at least 10 people, injuring 26 others, media reports said.

The report of the incident was confirmed by Deputy Inspector General of Police for Diamer-Astore Division Tufail Mir, who said a control room has been set up in the district to facilitate rescue operations and recover people from under the debris, reports Geo News.

After reaching the spot of the mishap, rescue team is trying to pull out those trapped under debris.

Along with the rescue teams, army helicopter and a team of doctors, ambulance have also reached the spot and attempts to recover people trapped under the snow are being made, reports Geo News.
