IBNS-CMEDIA: Bollywood actor Rani Mukerji’s mother, Krishna Mukerji, died in Mumbai following a brief illness, media reports said. She was 75.
According to a source quoted by The Times of India, Krishna Mukerji died of a heart attack.
“With heavy hearts, we share that Rani Mukerji’s mother, Mrs Krishna Mukerji, 75, passed away this afternoon,” the family said in a statement, as quoted by the media.
“The family is deeply grateful for your love, prayers, and support, and respectfully requests privacy during this time of immense grief,” the statement added.
Rani Mukerji has often spoken about the close bond she shared with her mother.
Krishna Mukerji was also the sister of veteran Bengali actor Debashree Roy. She was known for her playback singing in films including Haiwan (1977) and Teesri Aankh (1982).
She married filmmaker Ram Mukerji in 1972. The couple welcomed their daughter, Rani Mukerji, in 1978.
Ram Mukerji died in 2017 at the age of 84.
Rani Mukerji was last seen in Mardaani 3.
