The march marks another escalation in tensions in the national capital, which has witnessed repeated protests against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
Meanwhile, Rahul Gandhi, the Leader of the Opposition in the Lok Sabha, intensified his criticism of the CEC, warning that he would be held accountable amid the ongoing demonstrations.
Rahul alleged that Gyanesh Kumar was unable to sleep at night because of guilt over claims that millions of people had been deprived of their voting rights.
Addressing a press conference, the Congress leader said, “We know about Gyanesh Kumar’s condition. We know that he is unable to sleep at night. People are questioning the way in which he has stripped millions of people of their rights.
“Gyanesh Kumar will not escape, and I am saying this directly to him. We have information about you. We know your past, we know all about your corruption. We are waiting.”
Supreme Court Intervenes Over Delhi Crackdown
The Supreme Court on Sunday, October 11, 2026, directed authorities to stop the alleged illegal detention of peaceful protesters and restore normal public transport and internet services in Delhi following a police crackdown ahead of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) protests.
A special bench comprising Justices Joymalya Bagchi and V. Mohana also sought explanations from senior officials over alleged violations of the court’s earlier directions.
Delhi Remains Protest Hotspot Over Weekend
Delhi remained the centre of demonstrations over the weekend, with opposition leaders and CJP workers demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
More than 3,000 protesters, including politicians, were detained on Saturday and released later that night, according to the supplied report.
Police imposed extensive security restrictions across the national capital to prevent demonstrators from assembling at Jantar Mantar.
The restrictions forced protesters to split into smaller groups and gather at different locations across Delhi.
