IBNS-CMEDIA: Replacing the traditional evening snack of samosas and tea with a healthier alternative may sound like a good idea, but one office’s decision has sparked a lively debate on social media.

An X user recently shared that she had convinced her office administration to replace deep-fried snacks with bowls of fresh fruit for employees during evening snack time.

Along with the post, she shared photographs of fruit bowls being served in the office. The post quickly went viral, drawing thousands of reactions and comments.

While many users praised the initiative for encouraging healthier eating habits at the workplace, others lamented the replacement of popular snacks such as samosas and vada pav, responding with humorous and sarcastic remarks.

Several corporate brands also joined the online conversation.

Bistro by Blinkit quipped, “Corporate version of ‘Ma’am, aapne kal homework diya tha.'”

Instamart also responded with a tongue-in-cheek comment, saying, “Office rivalries are fine but this is where you should draw the line.”

The debate extended beyond brands, with social media users expressing mixed opinions.

One user simply wrote, “Sad life.”

Another commented, “Good. But the quantity is way beyond a snack.”

A third user joked, “I ain’t eating this salmonella, amoeba, hepatitis-infested stuff. Bring me a piping hot samosa with a ketchup sachet.”

The post has reignited the perennial debate over whether workplaces should prioritise healthier food options or continue serving popular comfort snacks that many employees look forward to during tea breaks.
