1,000+ International students in Canada benefit from an informative session with topics about navigating academic and social life in Canada.
Toronto/CMEDIA — International Youth in association with the Consulate General of India (Toronto) hosted an informative and interactive online event for the benefit of international students in Canada on Jan 29.
The event attended by more than 1,000 people from 9 different countries, representing 85 academic institutions, had the participation of leaders in international education. Moderated by Prashant Srivastava, Director of Business Development (Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia) at Seneca College, and Ash Patel, the event sequenced the speakers in a meaningful and engaging way that was very well received by the audience.
The Consul General of India (Toronto), Apoorva Srivastava started the event with republic day messaging and a motivating and inspirational speech for the benefit of all international students.
Speakers from several Ontario colleges conducted a panel-format session. Member of Provincial Parliament (Ontario), Hon. Amarjot Sandhu conducted a session about navigating the Canadian social landscape. Ms. Hariana Brooks from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) hosted a valuable session about the regulatory side of entry and settlement into Canada.
A multi panelist group included Mr. Keith Monrose – Executive Director, Seneca International, Seneca College; Mr. Sunand Sharma – Associate Dean – Community Citizenship, Leadership & Engagement, Sheridan College; Mr. Gary Hallam – Vice President International and Executive Dean, Conestoga College; Mr. Achuth Kesavan – International Student Advisor, Centennial College.
International Youth is a not-for-profit organization established to provide programs to support international learners before, during, and after their studies in Canada. The organization is volunteer-run and provides services to international students from 30+ countries. Service offerings include information sessions, social connection, and mentoring portal, settlement portal, and liaison with external agencies.
