Mumbai/IBNS-CMEDIA: Bollywood legend Amitabh Bachchan has revealed that he suffered a knee injury after slipping and falling during the shoot of his popular quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, media reports said.

Bachchan, 83, began the latest episode of the show seated instead of making his trademark energetic entry followed by a standing opening monologue.

Explaining the change, the veteran actor told the audience that he had injured his knee during the previous day’s shoot.

“Usually, I don’t sit here. I do my monologue standing at the centre, but today, I injured my knee. Yesterday, during the shoot, I slipped and fell with a loud thud and injured my knee. It’s torn. So I had trouble standing up.

“I thought I’d talk while sitting and then play with you standing up later. Don’t worry,” Bachchan said as quoted by The Indian Express.

The actor pointed towards his left knee while revealing how he sustained the injury, leaving the studio audience concerned about his health.

However, Bachchan quickly reassured them that the injury was not serious.

He said he would continue standing while interacting with contestants but had chosen to remain seated during the opening monologue as he was finding it slightly difficult to stand.

The audience wished the veteran actor a speedy recovery.

The injury comes as Bachchan continues to remain active on both television and the big screen. Apart from hosting Kaun Banega Crorepati 18, he has several film projects lined up.

The actor will next be seen in Section 84, a courtroom drama directed by Ribhu Dasgupta and also starring Diana Penty, Nimrat Kaur and Abhishek Banerjee. The film is currently in post-production.

Bachchan is also set to reprise his role as Ashwatthama in Nag Ashwin’s Kalki 2898 AD Part 2, alongside Prabhas and Kamal Haasan. Reports have also linked him to Aankhen 2, although details about the project remain limited.
