Edmonton Institution for Women at present has 13 positive cases with COVID-19

Edmnton/CMEDIA: 13 inmates at Edmonton Institution for Women have tested positive for COVID-19, reportedly said Correctional Service Canada (CSC) and their situation is closely being monitored.

Inmates of the CSC have been vaccinated since January 2021. As part of the ongoing vaccination process, a third dose, or booster, is also being offered. More information and data on vaccines administered to federal inmates is available on our website.

All staff and inmates are provided with appropriate Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) including, medical masks, respirators, and face shields. Enhanced cleaning and disinfecting throughout the site is continuing.

Active screening is done for all individuals entering the institution, and decisions regarding access to the site as well as programs and services are subject to public health advice.

In-person visits at Edmonton Institution for Women are temporarily suspended, but other options are available to inmates to connect with their families and support networks.
