Calgary/IBNS-CMEDIA: Punjabi singer-actor Diljit Dosanjh briefly paused a concert in Calgary in Canada to address a group of attendees waving Khalistan flags, asking them to leave the venue and not disrupt the performance.
The incident occurred April 30 during the Calgary stop of his Aura World Tour. Videos shared on social media show Dosanjh stopping mid-performance after noticing the flags in the crowd.
Addressing the group in Punjabi, Dosanjh said they were free to express themselves but urged them to do so outside the venue so the concert could continue without interruption. He also referred to similar disruptions at previous shows.
“If you still have an issue that I sat across from someone on television, then keep waving how many flags you want to (jinne jhande dikhane, dikhai challo),” Dosanjh told the protesters. “My job is not to do charity, but whichever platform I go on, I always talk about Punjab.”
The protest reportedly stems from the criticism linked to some Sikh groups over Dosanjh’s appearance on the television show Kaun Banega Crorepati in 2025, where he was seen greeting host Amitabh Bachchan with a traditional gesture.
During the concert, Dosanjh defended his public appearances, saying he uses international platforms to highlight Punjabi culture and issues affecting the region.
The show resumed after the interruption, with venue security escorting the individuals out. There were no immediate reports of arrests, and authorities have not issued an official statement.
The Aura World Tour, which began on April 23 in Vancouver, has been one of the largest Punjabi music tours in history, consistently filling stadiums across North America.
Despite the disruption in Calgary, the show resumed after security escorted the protesters out.
Dosanjh is scheduled to perform next in Toronto and Chicago.
