The longstanding Chronicling America Website, a searchable and freely accessible digital collection of historic newspaper pages has been transitioned by the Library of Congress to a new digital environment alongside other Library of Congress digital collections including an updated interface and back-end search infrastructure.

As a partnership between the National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH) and the Library of Congress, NDNP not only developed an Internet-based, searchable database of U.S. newspapers, but also provides descriptive information and select digitization of historic pages.

In the future (date yet to be announced) existing URLs to Chronicling America pages will redirect to the new environment.

Updates can be obtained by either visiting the Chronicling America Website Migration page or by subscribing  to the Chronicling America Historical Newspapers email list.

Funded by award program NEH for the contribution of content from, eventually, all U.S. states and territories, this rich digital resource is developed and permanently maintained at the Library of Congress.with support from NEH.
