IBNS-CMEDIA: British singer Ed Sheeran and Dutch DJ Martin Garrix have finally released their long-shelved collaboration titled “Repeat It”, bringing a decade-old project to life.

The track, which originally dates back around 12 years, was officially released on May 14 and marks a long-awaited reunion between the two global music stars.

Sharing details about the release on Instagram, Garrix wrote, “‘Repeat It’ out now everywhere!!! @teddysphotos (acoustic & 2015 version also dropping soon).”

Ed Sheeran also reflected on the journey of the song in a joint post, revealing that the track was first created after the two met during a night out in Amsterdam. He explained that it was originally recorded during his Multiply era but was ultimately never released at the time.

“We made Repeat It 12 years ago after we became friends on a night out in Amsterdam. At the time I was in the middle of the Multiply rollout, and the song just never ended up coming out for whatever reason,” Sheeran wrote. He added that despite the delay, the duo remained close friends and often discussed releasing it in the future.

Sheeran further said the timing now felt right, noting that Garrix recently turned 30 and is preparing to release his debut album. He also shared that they performed the song live in Santiago for the first time, calling it one of his favourite career moments.

Reflecting on the experience, he said it reminded him to “trust in the fun of music and stop overthinking it.”

Wishing Garrix on his birthday, Sheeran added, “Happy Birthday Martin… the video includes clips from our lives over the last 12 years. It’s gonna be fun playing this all summer. Music video live on YouTube now. Loads of love x.”
