Toronto/CMEDIA: Toronto Mayor John Tory registered today to run for his third term as Mayor of Toronto.
“I love this city and I want to make sure Toronto comes back stronger than ever in the years ahead…I want to keep working for you day in and day out…and that’s what I’m promising to do if re-elected,” said Tory in a news release.
Tory’s nomination papers were signed by a list of leaders from across Toronto and his candidacy was endorsed today by 44 people including Masai Ujiri, Jean Augustine, and former Mayors David Crombie and Art Eggleton.
Remaining focused on doing the job he was elected to do including leading the city through the pandemic, continuing Toronto’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign, as well as encouraging the economic recovery.
Today is the first day any candidate can register with the City Clerk to run in the 2022 municipal election with Election Day on October 24.
After registration candidates can put up a website and open a campaign account.
Tory looks forward in the coming months to outlining his plans to continue the progress on affordable housing, getting transit built, attracting new businesses and more jobs, enhancing recreation and green space in the city, and ensuring everyone lives in a safe, secure, and inclusive Toronto.
