Toronto/CMEDIA: Mary Ng, Canada’s Minister of Export Promotion, International Trade and Economic Development would reportedly lead the Team Canada Trade Mission to South Korea from April 21 to 25 as part of Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy.

“We just finished the successful Team Canada Trade Mission to Malaysia and Vietnam…to explore business opportunities in South Korea…to make new connections in South Korea, one of the Indo-Pacific’s fastest-growing markets and a strategic partner for Canada,” said  Mary Ng.

Being Canada’s 7th-largest merchandise trading partner, South Korea is also 8th-largest export and 6th-largest import partner as of 2023.

Launched in November 2022, Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy is Canada’s second-largest regional export market, after the United States, with annual 2-way merchandise trade valued at $257 billion in 2023.

The Team will have a chance to learn how the Canada-Korea Free Trade Agreement (CKFTA) can benefit the Team.

Joined by a diverse group of more than 240 people from over 160 Canadian businesses and organizations, Minister Ng’s trade mission will facilitate them in  making meaningful connections with potential business partners and clients, and to explore export opportunities in the Indo-Pacific region.

The Canada-South Korea economic relationships have significantly improved since the CKFTA entered into force in 2015.

The trade mission will offer further expansion and growth opportunities to businesses already active in South Korea.

Ng ‘s visit to South Korean businesses would not only champion Canada as a great place for businesses to invest and grow, her meetings with her South Korean counterparts would lead to more advanced sustainable and inclusive trade that benefits everyone.
