Ottawa/CMEDIA: A theft worth “several thousand” dollars of tropical fish reportedly stolen from an Upper Ottawa Valley restaurant last week is being investigated by the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP).

In the early morning hours of April 11, a break and enter was reported to police, OPP says at a restaurant in the Town of Beachburg, located about 25 kilometres south of Pembroke and 130 kilometres northwest of downtown Ottawa.

Stolen items included, police said, an unspecified quantity of cash and tropical fish swimming inside an aquarium at the restaurant.

Refusing to provide more details, an OPP spokesperson said that the number of fish stolen were worth thousands of dollars reported by the restaurant.

Assisted by an OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) officer, the investigation is in process.

OPP is asking anyone with information regarding this incident to contact the Upper Ottawa Valley OPP at 613-732-3332 or Pembroke/Renfrew County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477) or at www.valleytips.ca.
