Toronto: Toronto Mayor John Tory announced today that in 2023, the City of Toronto will ring with a New Year’s Eve fireworks show across downtown Toronto’s waterfront.
On New Year’s Eve, Toronto’s downtown waterfront would be launching two synchronized 15-minute, high-altitude fireworks displays viewable from anywhere with views of Toronto’s inner harbour.
Nathan Phillips Square would be anchoring this year’s New Year’s Eve event although holiday lighting displays and public skating will remain available on the square until 10 p.m. Skaters are encouraged to check the status of the Nathan Phillips Square rink and other City outdoor rinks in advance on the City’s Drop-in Skating webpage.
The fireworks representing hope for the coming year and are part of the Stronger TOgether program as well as honor the resiliency of Torontonians during the COVID-19 pandemic could be watched by residents by viewing areas along Toronto’s downtown waterfront or tune in to a livestream set to a soundtrack of Canadian and International music artists on the City’s CultureTO YouTube channel.
Additional Stronger TOgether details will be announced in early 2023 and updated on the City’s Stronger TOgether webpage. Stronger TOgether is funded in part by the Government of Canada.
Road closure and planning ahead information is available on the City’s New Year’s Eve webpage.
