IBNS-CMEDIA: Apple Inc. is set for a major leadership transition, with Chief Executive Officer Tim Cook stepping down from his role effective September 1, 2026.
Cook will be succeeded by John Ternus, currently Senior Vice President of Hardware Engineering at Apple. Ternus’s appointment as CEO will take effect on the same date.
Following the transition, Cook will assume the role of Executive Chairman of Apple’s Board of Directors. He will continue as CEO through the summer, working closely with Ternus to ensure a smooth handover. In his new position, Cook is expected to remain involved in select areas of the company, including engagement with global policymakers.
Reacting to the announcement, Sundar Pichai, CEO of Google, congratulated Cook and praised his leadership.
