Toronto/CMEDIA: New service between Ottawa and Hamilton would reportedly be launched by  Porter Airlines this summer.

Two daily flights will connect the Ottawa airport with Hamilton, starting June 22, one in the morning and one in the afternoon, each lasting approximately an hour.

In 2025 the airline launched service in Hamilton and now operates alongside WestJet at the airport, while Air Canada offers a shuttle connection to Toronto’s Pearson International Airport.

The airline also said service will run between John C. Munro Hamilton International Airport and Ottawa International Airport with two daily flights operated on 78-seat De Havilland Dash 8-400 aircraft.

“This new route gives passengers more options and greater convenience. Hamilton travellers can now fly seamlessly to Ottawa and easily connect to destinations across Atlantic Canada and the U.S. East Coast, including Boston and New York. At the same time, Ottawa passengers gain direct access to Hamilton, the gateway to Niagara region wineries, 100-plus waterfalls and a vibrant culinary scene – there’s lots to explore for every type of visitor.”  Andrew Pierce, Porter Airlines vice president, network planning and reporting in a news release has said.

Porter’s move to add flights to Newfoundland and Labrador starting June 10  followed the above announcement.

Non-stop flights from Ottawa to Windsor and Sudbury on May 1, to Kelowna as of May 13 are also being added by the airline.

Porter also recently announced regular service between the new Montreal Metropolitan Airport and Hamilton.

Being part of Porter’s launch of 12 routes from the Montreal-area airport, is a part of a broader national rollout tied to a newly redeveloped airport on the city’s South Shore.

The airport, now referred to as Montreal Metropolitan Airport, or MET, features a newly built terminal with a compact design and open-concept layout. MET’s official airport designation code is YHU.

The airline is also expanding its twice-weekly seasonal service to Fort Lauderdale into a year-round offering.

Porter announced earlier this year that it would add five weekly flights between Hamilton and St. John’s, and four weekly flights between Winnipeg starting May 15, while also doubling flights to Halifax to 14 per week.

According to its website, Porter also operates flights from Hamilton to Calgary, Edmonton, Halifax, Vancouver, Orlando, Fla., Fort Lauderdale, Fla., Cancun, Mexico, Puerto Vallarta, Mexico and Punta Cana,  Dominican Republic.
