Piyush Goyal’s push for UP Global markets, FTAs and Rs. 5 lakh crore export target

IBNS-CMEDIA: Union Minister of Commerce and Industry Piyush Goyal has said that as global markets open up to India through Free Trade Agreements (FTAs), entrepreneurs in Uttar Pradesh will have greater opportunities to access international markets.

The Minister said Uttar Pradesh currently records annual exports of around ₹2 lakh crore and has set a target of increasing the figure to ₹5 lakh crore by 2030.

Addressing the UP International Trade Show in Greater Noida, Goyal said expanding exports, attracting investments and increasing global market access would contribute to Uttar Pradesh’s goal of becoming a $1 trillion economy.

Goyal said fresh investments are expected to flow into India from across the world and noted that Uttar Pradesh has emerged as a preferred investment destination, supported by favourable industrial policies and proactive government schemes.

He said major corporations and global investors are entering the state across sectors, creating new employment opportunities.

The Minister also highlighted the role of modern technology, international businesses and the evolving craftsmanship and technical skills of Uttar Pradesh’s youth in driving the state’s development.

He said international events of this scale provide businesses with direct access to global markets, helping Uttar Pradesh’s diverse products, cuisines and services reach international consumers.

Goyal highlighted the international participation at the UP International Trade Show, including six partner countries, hundreds of delegates and exhibitors, as well as buyer-seller meetings. He said the participation of international stakeholders was creating new opportunities for businesses in the state.

The Minister also highlighted the development of expressways, modern airports and industrial parks in Uttar Pradesh. He noted the state’s growing presence in sectors such as defence, semiconductors, electronics and other high-technology industries.

He also cited the expansion of a major robotics manufacturing facility in Greater Noida as an example of the state’s growing industrial and technological capabilities.

Goyal said the next phase of Uttar Pradesh’s development would depend on expanding exports, attracting international investments, strengthening tourism and building global recognition for brands from the state.

He said Uttar Pradesh is strengthening its foundation for greater global trade while progressing towards its broader development objectives.

Goyal said expanded global market access through FTAs, increased investments, tourism and greater international recognition of Uttar Pradesh’s products and brands would create new opportunities for entrepreneurs in the state.

He called for active participation and cooperation from the state’s trade and industrial community to advance its economic and export ambitions.

The Minister also stressed the importance of coordination between the Centre and the state government, along with the participation of citizens, youth and stakeholders from the trade and industrial sectors, in supporting Uttar Pradesh’s continued economic and export growth.
