Toronto: With the support of the Counsel General of India, Toronto, Panorama India’s in-person celebration of the 75th anniversary of Indian Independence Day took place at Nathan Phillips Square on Aug 21, 2022.
The ceremony started at 12 pm with the singing of India’s National Anthem and was followed by the launch of Panorama India Magazine by Apoorva Srivastava, the Consul General of India, Toronto. On her right side is Panorama India’s chairperson Vaidehi Bhagat.
Among the dignitaries present for this event were Anita Anand, Canada’s Minister of Defence, as well as Member of Parliament, Oakville, Deepak Anand, MPP, Mississauga-Malton, Neena Tangri, Member of Provincial Parliament, Mississauga-Streetsville, James Ramer, O.O.M., Chief of Police and others.
Some of the renowned floats in the Grand Parade for India Day 2022 included “Hindi Sahitya Bharati” and “Hindu Sabha Mandir” for representing India’s state, Uttarakhand, “Kashmiri Overseas Association of Canada (KOAC)” for representing India’s state, Jammu & Kashmir, “Samskrita Bharti” for displaying its mobile library of Samskrit books.
Three major segments of the event sponsored by TD included the Patriotic Segment showcasing the patriotic songs & performances, the Grand Parade displaying Floats showcasing the culture & heritage of the Indian States & many other Indo Canadian Organizations, and a Cultural segment with folk performances from different states of India.
In addition to that, there would be various booths featuring Indian food, Jewelry, clothing, and services that can be experienced by our audience. A lucky draw event would also be organized where guests get a chance to win a flight ticket to India sponsored by Air Canada & some other prizes too.
