Huronia/CMEDIA: On Friday morning, an officer with the Huronia West Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) was conducting routine patrols near Zoo Park and River Road West in the Town of Wasaga Beach, they stopped a black four-door Sedan to confirm the driver’s licence status.
When the police officer noticed the driver showing alleged signs of impairment, he was asked to submit to an evaluation by a drug recognition expert.
This investigation resulted in the charging of a 34-year-old man from the Town of Wasaga Beach with operation while impaired, along with a handful of other charges.
Shortly after noon of the same day, an officer was driving on Horseshoe Valley Road near Highway 26 in the Township of Springwater.
At that time, the officer reported witnessing a vehicle allegedly swerving in the lane and erratically navigating a curve. The officer conducted a traffic stop and made the driver do a roadside alcohol screening. When the woman registered a failing score, she was arrested for impaired driving.
As a result, a 64-year-old woman from Bracebridge, was charged with operating while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus.
In the early hours of the morning on Saturday, officers were called to the scene of a single-vehicle collision. Police say a driver had overturned on the Sunnidale-Tosorontio Townline in the Township of Clearview.
OPP say witnesses were able to identify the driver and suspected that he was impaired by alcohol. When officers arrived on scene the driver had fled but was found a short distance away.
When the investigating officer made the driver submit to roadside alcohol screening, the accused 22-year-old man from Adjala-Tosorontio Township was charged with operation while impaired with a blood alcohol concentration of 80 plus, along with other charges.
Police reportedly released all the accused drivers and asked to appear before the courts at a later date.
