Toronto/CMEDIA: According to a new poll, Olivia Chow  with 48 percent support among decided and leaning voters continues to lead Brad Bradford in Toronto’s mayoral race, although fewer than half of respondents now approve of her performance as mayor.

Chris Alexander, former federal cabinet minister received 10 percent support, while three percent said they would vote for another candidate.

The results give Chow a nine-point lead over Bradford, slightly wider than the seven-point gap measured in Liaison’s previous survey released Sept. 22.

“Chow has a little more breathing room on the ballot, but not a stronger approval rating,”  David Valentin, principal at Liaison Strategies was reported to say.

Although Chow’s ballot support remained relatively stable, job approval slipped below 50 percent in the latest survey.

Forty-nine percent of respondents, down from 52 percent in the previous poll, said they approve of Chow’s performance as mayor. Forty-five percent  up from 42 percent said they disapprove,

Chow received 41 percent support among all voters surveyed (including those who remain undecided) followed by Bradford at 33 percent and Alexander at eight percent. Three percent said they support another candidate and 15 percent were undecided.
