Chennai/IBNS-CMEDIA: Canada’s Yuvraj Samra on Tuesday became the first player from an associate nation to score a century in the history of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup.
Samra smashed 110 off just 65 balls to power Canada to 173/4 in 20 overs against New Zealand, who must win the match to qualify for the Super 8 stage.
The southpaw struck 11 fours and six sixes, anchoring the innings and helping his side post a competitive total at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The 19-year-old also registered the second century of the ongoing edition of the tournament.
On Monday, Pathum Nissanka scored a blistering 100 off 52 balls to guide Sri Lanka to an eight-wicket win over Australia, pushing the defending champions to the brink of elimination.
