MEHAR Canada to host Media Art Festival For Awareness (MAFFA) showcasing Films on Monday, October 17, 2022, at Silver City Brampton Cinemas, 50 Great Lakes Drive in Brampton, Ontario, L6R 2K7 from 6 to 8 PM. Doors will open at 5:30 PM.

MEHAR is a mental health organization that promotes mental and emotional well-being and raises awareness about health topics through art. MAFFA is a project partially funded by Advance Brampton Fund and will be MEHAR’s inaugural film festival event. The festival will showcase three short films: In the Highs and Lows: I Am Still Me, a short film on the reality of living with bipolar disorder. Beyond My Unreal World – I Am Still Me, a documentary film on the challenges of living with schizophrenia, and I Am Still Me, a short film on youth, mental health, and addictions. 

MEHAR hopes to use these films to raise awareness about the conditions and issues they feature and encourage attendees to educate themselves on mental health-related topics. 

Tickets for public admission are $15 and will be sent electronically via email. Those who wish to attend can RSVP by October 14 by e-transferring their ticket fee using the email they would like to receive at meharcanadainfo@gmail.com. The cost of the ticket includes light refreshments before the screening begins. 

The evening will include the following:

  1. Opening remarks from Michael Tibollo, Ontario’s Associate Minister for Mental Health and Addictions
  2. After the film screening, a brief Q&A session with a mental health expert. 

The event will be covered exclusively by Asian Television Network.
