Mary Ng to visit Singapore to launch Canada’s new Team Canada Trade Mission, as part of Indo-Pacific Strategy

Mary Ng, Federal Minister of International Trade, Export Promotion, Small Business and Economic Development, will be in Singapore February 20 to 22, 2023 to launch Canada’s new Team Canada Trade Mission, as part of Indo-Pacific Strategy, a news release report said.

An important trade and investment partner for Canada, Singapore is also a key part of our engagement in the region through Canada’s Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS).

Making up more than one-third of all global economic activity, the Indo-Pacific today encompasses three of the world’s largest economies—the People’s Republic of China (China), India and Japan—are in this part of the world.

By 2030, it will be home to two-thirds of the global middle class, having lifted millions out of poverty through economic growth, and by 2040, the region will reportedly account for more than half of the global economy, or more than twice the share of the United States.

In Singapore, Minister Ng will discuss with international partners and business leaders on Canada’s priorities in strengthening Canada’s trade and investment relationships in the Indo-Pacific region.

Mary will also speak at the Canada-in-Asia Conference and the Asia Business Leaders Advisory Council 2023 meeting.
