IBNS-CMEDIA: Artificial Intelligence has led to a large number of layoffs in recent times, causing tension among techies.
Now, a techie has confessed that he feels himself to be ‘obsolete’ in the era which is witnessing a rise of AI.
The techie, who claimed to have worked in eight companies, said his business failed amid gorwing AI efficiency.
He wrote on Reddit: “I’ve been into 8 companies. I went onsite for 6 months too. Working in Bangalore. Tried and failed with own SaaS startup in the AI era, just like what a bangalore dev does. Started job again.”
Sharing his frustration and fear online, he wrote: “Knowledge and experience feels obsolete. All these years I delivered code which now I feel is not really production quality. Despite the high pay scale I feel I’m still substandard, with all these AI tools, that feeling became stronger.”
“I was lucky to secure jobs and land at high pay roles. But my inner self was always suffering with that imposter syndrome,” he said.
He said he knows nothing outside the IT sector and now penning down his emotional journey, the techie wrote: “I don’t know anything outside IT. Not rich enough to start my own business. Not brave enough to speak with family about this, they think I’m their superstar.”
“I have that feeling that majority of the industry is full of people like me, just surviving the pay cheque to pay cheque. The average Indian developer. But that doesn’t help my inner me,” the techie wrote.
He said he wants to leave the sector but could not find the way out of it.
