IBNS: Iran-born actor Elnaaz Norouzi, who is known for featuring in popular Indian web series Sacred Games, has joined the massive ongoing anti-hijab protests back in her country.

Elnaaz, who was born in Tehran, has Instagrammed a video where she strips from hijab to underwear to assert her right to choose her attire.

In the caption, the actor wrote, “Every Woman, anywhere in the world, regardless of where she is from, should have the right to wear whatever she desires and when or wherever she desires to wear it. No man nor any other woman has the right to judge her or ask her to dress otherwise.

“Everyone has different views and beliefs and they have to be respected. Democracy means the power to decide… Every Woman should have the power to decide over her own body!”

She added, “I am not promoting nudity, I am promoting freedom of choice!”

Massive protests led by women swept across Iran after a 22-year-old Iranian Kurdish woman, named Amini, died in Tehran on Sept 16 after she was detained by the country’s morality police over her “inappropriate attire”.

The protests, which have faced a major crackdown by the authorities, are now close to a month challenging the Islamic Republic government in the country.
