Canada promoting 2SLGBTQI+ equality to address systemic discrimination

CMEDIA: With a realization that every Canadian deserves to fully participate in all spheres of society, regardless of their gender identity or sexual orientationan, an announcement of up to $164,571 in funding to PEERS Alliance was made today by Canada’s Parliamentary Secretary, Jenna Sudds, on behalf of Marci Ien, Minister for Women and Gender Equality and Youth. a news release reported.

PEERS Alliance is an organization that supports those living with and at risk for HIV, Hepatitis C, and sexually transmitted infections in PEI

The PEERS Alliance project funding will facilitate 2SLGBTQI+ communities in PEI to overcome barriers due to intersecting identity factors and achieve better treatment when accessing services.

“The incredible work that I’ve witnessed from organizations like PEERS Alliance is moving the dial to achieving equality and enhancing the ability for individuals to live a life free of judgment and bias,” said Jenna Sudds in the news release.

Projects such as this one will further support federal efforts to advance equality for 2SLGBTQI+ communities, and includes people identifying as Indigenous, Black, or racialized; seniors; youth; those living with a disability; Canadians from rural and remote communities; and official language minority 2LGBTQI+ communities.
