IBNS-CMEDIA: Residents of Bhag city in Pakistan observed a shutdown strike recently following a call by the All Parties Action Committee to protest the deteriorating law and order situation, marked by increasing incidents of theft, highway robberies, street crime and looting, media reports said.

Political, social and tribal leaders, traders, transporters and people from various sections of society participated in the protest, expressing concern over the worsening security situation in the city.

Leaders of the All Parties Action Committee, including Mama Abdul Sattar Bangulzai and Rais Allah Ditta, along with representatives of political parties, led the demonstration and addressed the protesters, Dawn News reported.

Addressing the gathering, the leaders said the law and order situation in Bhag city and the wider tehsil had become “extremely alarming”, claiming that residents no longer felt safe in their homes, markets, highways or connecting roads, the newspaper reported.

The leaders alleged that armed men were carrying out robberies in broad daylight and fleeing the scene after snatching cash, mobile phones, motorcycles and other valuables from citizens.

They also expressed concern over the risks faced by government employees, saying schoolteachers, doctors and other officials travelling to villages and nearby areas for official duties were also vulnerable to alleged robberies along the roads.

The protesters called for immediate steps to improve security and restore a sense of safety among residents in Bhag and surrounding areas.
