‘Fight over books turns violent’: Class 9 student’s attack inside Kolkata school

Kolkata/IBNS-CMEDIA: A Class 9 student was allegedly attacked by a classmate with a sharp object at a prominent school in Kolkata on Wednesday, leaving him bleeding, media reports said.

The 15-year-old boy was allegedly attacked in front of a teacher in the classroom at South Point School at around 12:29 pm.

Dispute over books triggers attack

According to reports, a disagreement over books allegedly led to the attack.

The student suffered injuries to his neck and left hand and began bleeding profusely following the incident.

He was initially provided first aid at the school before being rushed to a private hospital. His parents were informed and reached the hospital soon after.

The boy underwent surgical treatment for his injuries and is now reported to be in stable condition.

Classmate taken to school psychologists

Following the incident, the student who allegedly carried out the attack was immediately removed from the classroom and taken to the school psychologists.

His father subsequently arrived at the school and took him home.

Police were informed about the incident, and no arrest has been made so far.

The school has filed a complaint, which is currently being examined by the police, according to media reports.
