IBNS-CMEDIA: An Indian woman has left the internet stunned after deciding to quit her 9-to-5 job and devote more time to herself while exploring the true purpose of her life.
Content creator Arpita Sahu shared a video on Instagram explaining why she decided to walk away from her stable career after four-and-a-half years.
“I don’t think I’ve fully processed that I’ve actually done this,” Sahu wrote.
She said that for most of her life, she had followed the path expected of her — studying hard, earning a good degree, building a career, making money and being responsible.
“For someone who has spent most of her life doing what was expected of her, leaving a stable job after 4.5 years feels like a very big deal,” she said.
“There was a version of me that thought I’d keep doing the ‘right’ thing forever — study hard, get a good degree, build a good career, earn well, be responsible, and keep going.”
However, she eventually began questioning whether that was truly the life she wanted.
“And then somewhere along the way, I started wondering… but what if I want something different? So this is me giving myself permission to find out,” Sahu said.
While admitting that she feels scared about the uncertainty ahead, she said the decision has also made her “incredibly excited.”
“More than anything, I feel proud that I finally listened to that little voice that had been asking me to pause and question whether this was really the life I wanted,” she said.
Sahu acknowledged that she does not yet know exactly what her next chapter will look like.
“I don’t know exactly what the next chapter looks like yet. And maybe that’s the most exciting part,” she said.
She also hinted that there is more to her story, including what prompted her decision, what she plans to do next and how difficult it can be to walk away from something she had spent years building.
The post quickly drew reactions online, with many users praising her courage and wishing they could make a similar choice.
