IBNS-CMEDIA: Venezuelan leader Maria Corina Machado presented her Nobel Peace Prize to US President Donald Trump during their meeting in the White House on Thursday.

Sharing an image of the moment when the Nobel prize was handed over to Trump, the White House said: “President Donald J. Trump meets with María Corina Machado of Venezuela in the Oval Office, during which she presented the President with her Nobel Peace Prize in recognition and honour.”

After her first in-person meeting with Trump, the Venezuelan leader was quoted as saying by BBC: “I think today is a historic day for us Venezuelans.”

Expressing his gratitude to the Venezuelan leader, he wrote on Truth Social: “Such a wonderful gesture of mutual respect.”

What did the Norwegian Nobel Committee say about sharing the Peace Prize previously?

The Norwegian Nobel Committee earlier issued a clarification stating that the Nobel Peace Prize cannot be “shared, revoked, or transferred,” after US President Donald Trump had said he was ready to accept the laureate if Venezuelan opposition leader María Corina Machado offered it to him.

“The facts are clear and well established. Once a Nobel Prize is announced, it cannot be revoked, shared, or transferred to others. The decision is final and stands for all time,” the Committee said in a statement.
