Ontario lifts pandemic restrictions in 3 phases

Ontario announced it will allow indoor dining and gyms to reopen and will increase gathering limits on Jan. 31 as part of a three-step plan to ease COVID-19 restrictions in the province.

“We can be confident that the worst is behind us as we look to cautiously ease public health measures,” Premier Doug Ford said Thursday. “We are now in a position to cautiously and gradually ease public health measures.”

31 January

Social gatherings will be increased to 10 people indoors and 25 people outdoors.
Sporting events, concert venues, and theatres will be able to operate at 50 percent seated capacity or 500 people, whichever is less.
Restaurants, bars, and other food or drink establishments without dance facilities will be able to operate with 50 percent capacity indoors.
Retailers, including grocery stores and pharmacies, as well as shopping malls, can operate with 50 percent capacity indoors.
Non-spectator areas of sports and recreational fitness facilities, including gyms, can operate with 50 percent capacity indoors.
Movie theatres, meeting rooms, and event spaces can operate with 50 percent capacity indoors.
Recreational amenities and amusement parks, including water parks, can operate with 50 percent capacity indoors.
Museums, galleries, aquariums, zoos, and similar attractions, as well as casinos, bingo halls, and other gaming establishments, can open at 50 percent capacity indoors.
Indoor religious services, rites, or ceremonies can take place at 50 percent capacity.
The province said enhanced proof of vaccination, and other requirements would continue to apply in existing settings.

21 February

Social gathering limits will increase to 25 people indoors and 100 people outdoors.
Capacity limits will be lifted in indoor public settings where proof of vaccination is required.
Spectator capacity at sporting events, concert venues, and theatres will increase to 50 percent capacity.
Capacity is limited in most remaining indoor public settings where proof of vaccination is not required to the number of people that can maintain two meters of physical distance.
Indoor religious services, rites, or ceremonies are limited to the number of people that can maintain two meters of physical distance, with no limit if proof of vaccination is required.
Indoor capacity limits will be increased to 25 percent in the remaining higher-risk settings where proof of vaccination is required, including nightclubs, wedding receptions in meeting or event spaces where there is dancing, as well as bathhouses and sex clubs.
Enhanced proof of vaccination and other requirements would continue to apply in existing settings.

14 March

Social gathering limits will be increased to 50 people indoors with no limits for outdoor gatherings.
Capacity limits will be lifted in all indoor public settings. Proof of vaccination will be maintained in existing settings in addition to other regular measures.
The remaining capacity limits on religious services, rites, or ceremonies will be lifted.

Global Warming and Climate Change are creating a lot of news around the world. It is a topic that not only interests the professionals in the field of meteorology but also the general public, bureaucrats, and politicians. In fact, keeping the “General Public” informed about GW&CC is an extremely important activity of the International Forum of Meteorological Societies (www.ifms.org).

Therefore, the Indo-Canada Chamber of Commerce (ICCC) invited IFMS President Dr. Harinder P.S. Ahluwalia to make a public presentation on this issue.
The President of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (www.cmos.ca) Mr. Jim Abraham has agreed to assist Dr. Ahluwalia to cover the Canadian Government’s efforts to safeguard Canadians from the adverse effects of GW&CC.
This Session will consist of 2 parts as follows.
Part 1: Public Lecture on Causes of Global Warming & Climate Change its Remedies and how to cope with the effects of GW&CC — to be presented by Dr. Harinder Ahluwalia.
Part 2: The steps the Canadian Governments are taking to safeguard Canadians from the potentially disastrous effects of Global Warming and Climate Change — Mr. Jim Abraham.

Dr. Harinder P. S. Ahluwalia is the President of the International Forum of Meteorological Societies (IFMS) which aims at creating collaboration between the National Meteorological Societies of the world to leverage each other’s strengths. He is also the President and CEO of Info-Electronics Systems Inc. (IES) based in Montreal with an office in New Delhi. Incorporated in 1981, IES is a systems engineering, development, and implementation company in Hydrometeorology, Remote Sensing, and environment monitoring.

Mr. Jim Abraham, President of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society (www.cmos.ca), is a well-known meteorologist — nationally and internationally — and is frequently invited as an expert by a variety of organizations and the media. As the Director-General of Monitoring Networks at the Meteorological Service of Canada (MSC), Jim managed a wide variety of weather, water, and environmental operational and research programs over a 36-year career with the Meteorological Service of Canada. His most proud accomplishment was starting the Canadian hurricane forecast and research program. He was awarded the Patterson Medal for Meteorology in 2003, the Queens Jubilee Medal in 2013, and a Fellow of the Canadian Meteorological and Oceanographic Society in 2017.

Centennial College offers over 50 co-op programs in the fields of Business, Engineering Technology Applied Sciences, and Transportation.

The co-op program gives our students a chance to gain meaningful work experience while allowing them to fill short-term staffing needs and assess potential full-time employees.

Students are available full-time for 4-month assignments (8- and 12-month work terms may be arranged)
Organizations that offer paid co-op opportunities may be eligible for the Ontario Co-operative Education Tax Credit (up to $3000 per student for each co-op work term)

A large number of academic programs require students to complete a mandatory field placement. These placements are ideal for short-term recruitment needs.
