Moncton: Investments totaling more than $160,000 for Film Zone Inc., the organization behind the Festival international du cinema francophone en Acadie 2022 (FICFA) jointly announced by Ginette Petitpas Taylor, Minister of Official Languages, Minister responsible for ACOA and Member of Parliament for Moncton—Riverview—Dieppe; and Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage.
“For many years, the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie has helped to share stories from our francophone and Acadian filmmakers with the rest of the world. The investment announced today will help bring films by talented artists to the public throughout Moncton and Dieppe’s downtowns, while supporting local businesses in the region,” Ginette Petitpas Taylor said in a news release.

Besides promoting Film Zone Inc.’s les Soirées du FICFA, the support would also facilitate film screenings throughout downtown Moncton and Dieppe and other activities during the festival, as well as encourage people to return to the region’s downtowns and visit local businesses.
“FICFA is rooted in its community…We are therefore very fortunate to count on the continued support of the Canadian government, particularly through Canadian Heritage and ACOA, to assist us in this mission,” Mélanie Clériot, Executive Director, Film Zone Inc. –
Outreach programs in francophone schools over the next two years would also be supported by this funding in reaching more than 14,000 youth and also facilitate the FICFA to extend its programming and support Acadian organizations in their activities.
