Toronto: Art lovers and creators would be provided with unique opportunities to engage with more than 60 internationally renowned artists, academics and thought leaders for free when Nuit Blanche + RUTAS Symposium: A Home for Our Migrations will take place in Toronto from Tuesday, September 27 to Monday, October 3,
In addition, this seven-day event will bring together scholars, artists, and community activists for lively dialogues, workshops, keynote speakers, and performances, preceding and including Nuit Blanche, taking place across Toronto on Saturday, October 1.
Topics responding to emerging artistic practices as well as growing migrant and environmental crises would be explored by the presenters including transformative curatorial practices, the future of public art, performances, the Intersections of labour, land and diasporic memory, mobility as an artistic method, the politics of displacement and transnational collaboration, a news release has said.
Nuit Blanche + RUTAS Symposium: A Home for Our Migrations is co-produced by the City of Toronto, the RUTAS Festival and Aluna Theatre, Hemispheric Encounters, Inuit Futures, The Space Between Us, the Aabijijiwan New Media Lab at the University Winnipeg and the Sensorium: Centre for Digital Arts and Technology at York University’s School of the Arts, Media, Performance & Design. Special thanks to Nuit Talks Premier Partner, Doris McCarthy Gallery and the Department of Arts, Culture & Media at the University of Toronto Scarborough.

Pre-Nuit Cabaret
Pre-Nuit Cabaret, an advance celebration of Nuit Blanche, will take place on Thursday, September 29 at Gladstone Hotel, 1214 Queen St. W., from 10:30 p.m. to 1 a.m., and will include music, performers and art installations.
Nuit Connects Artist Talk
On Monday, October 3, The Symposium will feature an engaging talk and an opportunity to view the work of Nuit Blanche Connects artist Whyishnave Suthagar at Scarborough Town Centre.
Nuit Connects is a relationship-building, mentorship and knowledge-sharing program in partnership with Doris McCarthy Gallery that was inspired by the impassioned commitment to community and mentorship by Scarborough participants from the inaugural Nuit Blanche in Scarborough in 2018. The program annually supports a Scarborough-based artist through a 10-month residency program. Whyishnave Suthagar is this year’s residency recipient.
Nuit Talk at Humber College
An artist talk will take place at Humber College featuring Nuit Blanche Toronto’s Artistic director in conversation with a surprise guest whose work will appear in Etobicoke as part of this year’s Nuit Blanche Toronto. Further information will be revealed in the coming weeks.

16th edition of Toronto’s free all-night celebration of contemporary art returns this fall from sunset, on Saturday October 1 to sunrise on Sunday October 2.
Works of more than 150 local, national and international artists would be showcased in Toronto’s biggest celebration of contemporary art.
