More than 45,000 fourth doses — known as second boosters – of the COVID-19 vaccine have reportedly been provided by Team Toronto to eligible Torontonians for the second consecutive week.
In the two weeks since the fourth dose eligibility to people age 18 and older was expanded by the Province of Ontario on July 14, 91,045 people in Toronto have received their second booster dose.
334,960 people in Toronto in total have now received four doses of the COVID-19 vaccine.
As of Thursday, July 28, Team Toronto has administered more than 7.3 million doses of COVID-19 vaccine with more than 125,000 five- to 11-year-olds also now opting for the vaccination.
COVID-19 vaccinations have been scientifically proven to lower the risk of illness, hospitalization, and death with residents with three doses having had the lowest rate of hospitalization, compared to residents who were either not vaccinated or were under-vaccinated.
“We have world-leading vaccination rates because the vast majority of Toronto residents want to protect our progress and make sure our city comes back stronger than ever…and encourage all eligible residents to book their next dose as soon as possible,” Toronto Mayor John Tory said in a news release.
Continuing to partner with festivals and summer events Toronto Public Health offers this weekend accessible pop-up COVID-19 vaccination clinics at the Toronto Caribbean Carnival at Marilyn Bell Park, 1095 Lake Shore Blvd. W., Saturday, July 30, 10:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Ghana Fest Canada at Earl Bales Park, 4169 Bathurst St., Sunday, July 31, noon to 7 p.m.
