IBNS-CMEDIA: Cancer is a life-altering experience not just for the patient but also for their family and need everyday a motivation to fight and move further. It creates a ripple effect.
The difference between the two days, before and after a patient learns they have a malignant growth is profound and life-altering.
A life full of usual routines, plans, and hopes for the future turns into a wave of fear, uncertainty, and vulnerability.
As per one research, over 35 million new cancer cases will be predicted by 2050.
Cancer is one of the most researched diseases in the world, people are talking about, every day something is happening in this area to overcome it but still always seems like we are unable to take this disease into our grip due to lots of challenges and unseen situations and Sound ‘N’ Mind Foundation is one NGO working very closely with the cancer warriors for the last eight years.
Someone said it so well, “If you loved your life before cancer, do not be afraid of life after cancer. You will find beauty again.”
At Sound ‘N’ Mind Foundation, Sourish Choudhury, Founder & Master Life Coach, firmly believe that what cancer warriors need most is emotional and companionship care.
“This nurturing support helps them overcome their physical pain and empowers them to overcome the setbacks and challenges that cancer brings to their ecosystem,” Sourish Choudhury said.
The initial days after the cancer is diagnosed, it is really important to set the foundation for the patient and family that this is not the end of life, but just a journey beginning towards a little higher altitude.
The right mindset is the key to successful treatment and recovery from cancer. Our cancer advocacy sessions are meant for the same purpose.
Sound ‘N’ Mind Foundation has developed a unique concept named MindWell Club for Cancer Warriors.
With this innovative way, not only they are helping cancer warriors free of cost but also helping them connect them with each other so that if anyone needs any real-time help, they can get in touch with each other.
Also they believe that they can inspire each other with their story and strengthen each other’s ecosystem.
Cancer warriors endure a complex journey that extends far beyond medical treatments. The physical challenges include fatigue, pain, and the side effects of treatments such as chemotherapy and radiation. Emotional hurdles like fear, anxiety, and depression often accompany the diagnosis, making it difficult to stay hopeful.
Social isolation is another common issue. Friends and colleagues may not fully understand what the patient is going through, leading to feelings of loneliness. Additionally, financial burdens add to the stress, as medical expenses and loss of income can create significant hardships for both the individual
and their family.
In the midst of these challenges, emotional and companionship care can provide a lifeline. Emotional support helps cancer warriors process their feelings, reduce stress, and maintain a positive outlook.
This can come from loved ones, support groups, or professional counsellors who understand the unique journey of a cancer patient.
At Sound ‘N’ Mind Foundation, Sourish Choudhury, Master Life Coach’s and Debashish Das, Mindfulness Coach’s two approaches, Sound Healing and Mindfulness Exercises, are meant to spark resilience and clarity. Many patients find strength they never knew they had, focusing on their will to fight, lean on loved ones, and reevaluate what truly matters in life.
They believe the human spirit’s capacity to adapt, endure, and hope even in the face of adversity are the key aspects.
Supporting cancer warriors is not the responsibility of any one person or institution—it requires a community. Families, friends, healthcare providers, and organizations must work together to create a nurturing environment. Awareness campaigns, fundraising events, and community workshops can help bridge the gap between cancer warriors and the resources they need.
Goutam Mandal, Program Director at Sound ‘N’ Mind Foundation believes that with the cap of empathy and right mindset, one can provide the right assistance to cancer warriors. He is working very closely with various doctors and experts to understand the need so that the foundation can create the right offerings for them. He also believes that MindWell Club is the backbone of our offerings and can help the foundation provide larger coverage.
Cancer warriors embody the strength of the human spirit. By addressing their challenges with empathy and providing emotional, social, and vocational support, we can empower them to live meaningful lives. Together, we can ensure that no one battles cancer alone and that every warrior finds hope and
purpose amid the fight.
While battling cancer, many individuals find it challenging to return to their previous jobs or routines. Offering vocational training tailored to their abilities can provide a sense of purpose and financial independence. Skills like crafting, baking, writing, or digital marketing can be taught in flexible formats, allowing patients to work at their own pace.
At Sound ‘N’ Mind, they want them to explore their area of interest and help them if they want to take it as their profession.
Vocational programs can also serve as therapeutic outlets. Engaging in creative or productive activities can boost self-esteem and provide a welcome distraction from the rigours of treatment. Moreover, these skills can become sources of income, helping to alleviate financial strain.
The journey through cancer is undeniably challenging, but with determination, care, and unwavering motivation, it is possible to navigate this ripple effect and move toward a future defined by hope and healing. Ultimately, cancer reminds us of the value of life and the importance of fighting for it, one day at a time.
“Strength doesn’t come from what you can do; it comes from overcoming the things you once thought you couldn’t.”
Sound ‘N’ Mind Foundation has a WhatsApp group, which anyone can join and avail their services free of cost by joining the Mindwell Club – Cancer Warriors.
