Toronto/CMEDIA: The month of June every year is observed as a National Indigenous History Month, a time for all Ontarians to recognize the rich and diverse histories and honor the current realities of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples across the province and Canada.

The observation of this day is an important opportunity and raises awareness to learn more about the distinct cultures, languages and experiences of Indigenous peoples, and how our province and country have been continued to shape due to their contributions and achievements.

Continuing to inspire us with their strength, resiliency, the indigenous peoples possess a steadfast commitment to Indigenous values, often in the face of incredible obstacles including challenges of the tragic impact of the Indian Residential School system on Survivors, and their families and communities.

All Ontarians are being encouraged by the Ministry of Indigenous Affairs to utilize the many available online resources not only to participate in events and activities but also to learn more about and celebrate the diverse cultures and heritage of Indigenous peoples that contribute to making Ontario a great place to live.

With our deep collective understanding and appreciation of Indigenous histories, strengths, and contributions, journey towards advancing the process of reconciliation. can be actively embraced by us.
