Mumbai/IBNS-CMEDIA: Vicky Kaushal starrer Hindi film Chhaava has crossed the Rs. 100-crore-mark in the box office in just three days since its release in theatres on February 14.
The film, which is based on the life of 17th century Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, registered meaty numbers in the box office over the weekend. It has collected Rs. 121.43 crore in just three days.
Chhaava collected Rs. 33.10 crore, Rs. 39.30 crore and Rs. 49.03 crore on the first, second and third day respectively, said trade analyst Taran Adarsh on X.
The film is so far the biggest Hindi opener in 2025 and also Vicky’s best opener in his entire career.
The previous biggest Hindi opener in 2025 was Akshay Kumar starrer Sky Force which earned Rs. 15.3 crore.
Speaking about working on the film where he portrayed the Maratha ruler, Vicky earlier said, ” I feel so blessed to have got such a role. It’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity where one literally gets to play a God. I come from Maharashtra where Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj and Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj are not viewed just as warriors but as God.”
“When I was offered the film, I was scared initially because I am aware of the sentiments associated with Chatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. But the team took a lot of effort for about four years to bring this film out as authentically, unapologetically and as grandly as possible,” the actor added.
Chhaava, which is directed by Laxman Utekar, co-stars Rashmika Mandanna in the lead.
