Ottawa/CMEDIA: Canada Prime Minister Mark Carney reportedly is heading to the United Kingdom this week from Sept. 25 to 28 to discuss trade ties and other geopolitical issues with world leaders.
Wrapping up a trip to the United Nations (UN) in New York today Carney would also sit down with business leaders and institutional investors of the UK, Iceland, Spain and Denmark as part of a broader push to advance trade with international partners, Carney’s office said.
Last week Carney was in Mexico to strike a deal advancing economic and security ties with the North American ally,
“Canada is a determined and ambitious nation…diversifying our partnerships abroad…Together with our partners, we are helping build a world where prosperity is shared, where security is collective, and where peace is lasting,” Carney said in a news release.
Canada’s largest trading partner in Europe, and its third-largest globally, the UK with two-way trade in goods and services reached $61 billion in 2024, UK companies continue to be a key source of foreign direct investment in Canada, employing more than 166,000 people in their Canadian operations.
