Ottawa/CMEDIA: As part of reportedly the federal government’s comprehensive expenditure review to eliminate 28,000 jobs by 2029 and save $60 B as outlined by The Canada Strong Budget 2025
Over 8,000 federal public service jobs will be cut across 24 departments.
Information on workforce reductions in the core public service was released by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat on Fri.
23,063 notices have been issued to employees reportedly by the government notifying them that their positions may be affected or at risk.
Federal public service departments have also said that they will eliminate 8,230 employees and 425 executive positions in 24 departments.
Statistics by the Treasury Board of Canada Secretariat also reveal 15,755 non-management positions and 642 positions total positions could be cut through the comprehensive expenditure review and attrition, according to the government.

Health Canada is also set to remove Nearly 1,056 employees and 36 manager positions through workforce adjustment.
Employment and Social Development Canada is also set to eliminate 931 employees and 39 management positions.
Data provided by three federal unions show more than 18,650 federal employees have received workforce adjustment notices over the past two months and more than 30 federal departments and museums have issued notices to employees so far in December and January as part of the comprehensive expenditure review. .
The data does not include federal departments outside the core public service. The Canadian Food Inspection Agency said 587 positions will be cut, while the Canadian Museum of History and Canadian War Museum plans to cut 67 positions.
