IBNS-CMEDIA: A 68-year-old Indian businessman was shot dead outside his residence in Canada’s Abbotsford, British Columbia, on Monday, police said.

The deceased person was identified as 68-year-old Darshan Singh Sahsi.

He was the president of Canam International, which his son Arpan describes as one of the world’s largest clothing recyclers, reported CBC News.

Abbotsford Police Department said in its Facebook page that the incident was confined to a single parked vehicle on the roadway.

“Inside the vehicle, they discovered a 68-year-old man suffering from life-threatening injuries. Despite lifesaving medical efforts of first responders, the man succumbed to his injuries. No arrests have been made at this time,” police said.

Police said the investigation is still in its early stages, and additional resources have been deployed to support efforts in uncovering the full circumstances surrounding this incident.

No arrests have been made so far.

Darshan Singh Sahsi was born Indian state of Punjab.

Arpan said his father did not receive any extortion threat.

“Of course we’re devastated because it does not make sense to us,” Arpan told CBC. “There was no threats, there was no blackmail, there was no extortion.”
