Toronto/CMEDIA: Non-stop, year-round service between Toronto and Yellowknife is being reportedly launched by Air Canada to help support both tourism and business in the region.
Expected to start service in December, the route will fly three times a week.
Customers will be enabled to seamlessly connect from Yellowknife to flights by its partner airline Canadian North, the Montreal-based airline said.
Flights will be timed for easy connections through Toronto to elsewhere in Eastern Canada, the U.S. and sunny destinations, Mark Galardo, Executive Vice President, Revenue and Network Planning at Air Canada, was reported saying.
“The North has a magical attraction and Air Canada is pleased to make it easier for customers to visit Yellowknife and beyond…As well, flights are timed for easy connections through our Toronto global hub to elsewhere in eastern Canada, the U.S., and to winter sun destinations…travel onward conveniently on our interline partner, Canadian North,” said Mark Galardo in a news release.
Caroline Wawzonek, minister of industry, tourism and investment for the Northwest Territories, says in the release that the route marks a significant increase in air transport options that will increase opportunities for the region.
Air Canada already flies twice daily between Yellowknife and Vancouver and has daily service between Yellowknife and Edmonton.
