IBNS-CMEDIA: A video showing Hollywood stars Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt fighting on the roof of a building has been making waves on social media recently. What has left viewers truly amazed, however, is the revelation that —and the results look astonishingly realistic.

The viral video underscores the intensifying competition between China and the US in fine-tuning AI technologies and creating hyper-realistic digital content

The clip was reportedly created using Seedance 2.0, a powerful AI video tool developed by ByteDance, TikTok’s parent company. Designed in the style of a Hollywood blockbuster, the video depicts AI-generated avatars of the two actors delivering powerful dialogues produced by a multi-modal AI system.

What is Seedance 2.0?

According to its official website, Seedance 2.0 uses a unified multimodal audio-video co-generation architecture, supporting four input types: text, images, audio, and video. It integrates comprehensive multimodal content reference and editing capabilities, making it highly versatile.

Compared to version 1.5, Seedance 2.0 significantly improves generation quality, with enhanced physical accuracy, realism, and controllability. The system is particularly well-suited for complex interaction and motion scenarios, making it ideal for industrial-grade creative applications. Currently, the AI tool is not available to the public.

Hollywood Reacts

The clip has drawn attention from industry insiders. Deadpool writer Rhett Reese shared the video on his X page, commenting, “I hate to say it. It’s likely over for us.”

Meanwhile, the Motion Picture Association (MPA) raised concerns over copyright infringement. On X, the organization stated:

“In a single day, the Chinese AI service Seedance 2.0 has engaged in unauthorized use of US copyrighted works on a massive scale. By launching a service that operates without meaningful safeguards against infringement, ByteDance is disregarding well-established copyright law that protects the rights of creators and underpins millions of American jobs. ByteDance should immediately cease its infringing activity.”

The episode highlights both the creative potential and legal challenges of AI-generated content, signaling a new era in digital entertainment—and the fierce global competition behind it.
