Chennai/IBNS-CMEDIA: Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) has welcomed superstar Dhanush’s apparent indication of a possible political entry, saying Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C Joseph Vijay has emerged as an inspiration for others looking to enter politics, media reports said.

The ruling party said Vijay’s dramatic journey from the silver screen to power has inspired others to explore a career in politics.

TVK says Vijay’s journey is an inspiration

Speaking to NDTV, TVK spokesperson M Santhy Kumar said, “We are happy that TVK is an inspiration for political start-ups.”

“Vijay worked for 30 years for this. It is not easy,” Kumar added, cautioning that running a political party and winning elections require full-time commitment.

“Vijay gave up acting at the peak of his career,” he said.

Dhanush’s fan association renamed

The TVK’s remarks came after Dhanush’s fan association was renamed the Dhanush Narpani Iyakkam (Dhanush Welfare Movement) at a meeting attended by around 3,000 office-bearers in Coimbatore.

The renaming has drawn attention as Vijay had also transformed his fan network into a welfare platform, mobilising fans and supporters for social welfare activities before entering politics.

Vijay’s transition from cinema to politics has fuelled speculation about whether Dhanush could follow a similar path.

Vijay’s political success

Vijay’s TVK made a strong electoral debut in the 2026 Tamil Nadu Assembly elections, with the actor-turned-politician emerging as a major new force in the state’s politics.

The party’s performance propelled Vijay to power on his first electoral outing, marking his transition from cinema to governance.

The result marked a significant shift in Tamil Nadu’s long-standing Dravidian political landscape, with TVK falling a few seats short of the majority mark but subsequently forming the government with the support of the Congress and others.
