IBNS-CMEDIA: Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) leaders Ashutosh Ranka and Saurav Das were detained by Delhi Police on Tuesday after the satirical political outfit staged a flash protest at Jantar Mantar, a prominent protest venue in the national capital that was denotified as a designated demonstration site earlier this week.
CJP founder Abhijeet Dipke shared an image on X showing party supporters waving the Tricolour at Jantar Mantar.
He also posted a video showing supporters of the satirical political outfit climbing an iron gate and a police barricade to enter the protest site.
“Cockroaches with the Tiranga sneaked into Jantar Mantar early this morning before they were picked up by Delhi Police. @AshutoshRanka, @SauravDassss, @AjinkyaCJP, along with other team members have been detained,” Dipke wrote on X.

Challenging the Centre’s decision to remove Jantar Mantar’s designated protest site status, he added: “You cannot denotify the resistance, @narendramodi.”
The Delhi Police announced on Monday that Jantar Mantar had been denotified as a designated protest site, according to media reports. The decision came amid protests and marches in the national capital over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
Alongside the denotification of Jantar Mantar, police designated three other locations across Delhi for demonstrations: Ramlila Ground, Burari Ground and CBD Ground in Shahdara.
Jantar Mantar Loses Designated Protest Site Status
The decision to denotify Jantar Mantar assumes significance as the site has served as a prominent venue for demonstrations and political protests over the years.
Earlier this year, the Cockroach Janata Party staged a prolonged sit-in at Jantar Mantar over the alleged NEET paper leak. The protest reportedly led to the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.
The latest development comes as the CJP plans to resume its agitation at Jantar Mantar, demanding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar over alleged irregularities in the electoral process.
