IBNS-CMEDIA: An earthquake measuring 4.9 on the Richter scale struck Uttarakhand on Tuesday night, with tremors being felt in Delhi-NCR and several other parts of North India.
According to the National Centre for Seismology (NCS), the earthquake occurred at around 10.23 pm, with its epicentre located in Chamoli district.
The quake was recorded at a depth of 13 km, according to official data.“EQ of M: 4.9, On: 06/10/2026 22:23:13 IST, Lat: 30.103 N, Long: 79.561 E, Depth: 13 Km, Location: Chamoli, Uttarakhand,” the NCS said in a post on X.
Several users took to social media to share their experiences following the tremors.
“Strong earthquake tremors in Delhi-NCR; captured on camera,” one user posted.
Another user shared footage from IIT Delhi and wrote: “Scenes from IIT Delhi post earthquake. Political tremors in the city not enough for the universe clearly! Who else felt?”
No casualties or major damage have been reported so far.
