Yamaha unveils the world’s first scooter with airbag

IBNS-CMEDIA: Two-wheeler major Yamaha has unveiled the world’s first scooter that features an airbag, providing safety to commuters.

“For 2026 the Tricity 300 gets a significant upgrade with the addition of a rider’s airbag – the first to be fitted to any Yamaha,” the company said in a statement, sharing details about the vehicle.

“This exclusive passive safety feature underlines Yamaha’s commitment to providing every rider with the best possible commuting experience – and together with the sense of confidence inspired by the 3-wheel chassis, this advanced tech can offer added peace of mind on every journey,” the automobile major said.

The company claimed the scooter’s body has undergone a major restyle and features a dynamic new look with a sharper and tighter front fairing.

” Bold new triple-stack LED position lights and an LED taillight reinforce the Tricity 300’s modern appearance – and restyled side panels and new graphics giveYamaha’s ultimate 3-wheel scooter a sportier feel,” the company described.

The vehicle will also feature a 4.2-inch full colour TFT display, giving smartphone connectivity.

“Driven by the fuel-efficient EURO5+ Blue Core 292cc engine that delivers smooth and responsive performance and fully equipped with a wide range of user-friendly technology including Standing Assist, cornering ABS and Smart Key operation, the new Tricity 300 takes commuting comfort and convenience to the next level,” the company said.
