Toronto/CMEDIA: Toronto’s reported declarations about The Major Snowstorm Condition and Significant Weather Event which came into effect on Jan 15, will end at 5 p.m. today.

While helping improve the efficiency of winter road maintenance, these declarations  also prohibited parking on designated snow routes, enabling crews to plow and remove snow from roads, sidewalks and bike lanes faster and more effectively.

Snow removal (hauling away snow piles) in targeted high-priority locations is being continued across the city including transit corridors and school loading zones to keep the city moving, improve accessibility and create capacity for future snowfalls.

“No Parking – Snow Removal” signs remind drivers to avoid parking where temporary orange signs are posted as crews will be removing the snow from these areas within 24 hours of the sign being posted.

Fines could be levied on vehicles parked on streets with these temporary signs or towed at the owner’s expense.

Drivers should consider, where possible, off-street parking to keep roads clear for crews to complete snow removal as quickly as possible.

The City of Toronto continues to accept 311 service requests for snow clean-up. Residents can report areas that need attention by calling 311, on the City’s website or the 311 Toronto app
