Los Angeles/IBNS-CMEDIA: ‘Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner has officially stepped into the role of Lara Croft for Prime Video’s upcoming Tomb Raider web series, the makers confirmed via social media.

Lara Croft, an iconic video game character, is widely recognized in pop culture for her intelligence, agility, and independence.

Prime Video shared Sophie’s wardrobe test on Instagram, captioned: “Get your artifacts out. Lara’s on her way…”

The series is being developed by Phoebe Waller‑Bridge (Fleabag) as creator, writer, and executive producer, with Jonathan Van Tulleken directing. The cast also includes Sigourney Weaver, Jason Isaacs, and other major roles.

Filming began in January 2026, and while an official release date is yet to be announced, it is expected in late 2026 or early 2027.

Turner’s portrayal of Lara Croft follows the legendary performances of Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider, 2001; The Cradle of Life, 2003) and Alicia Vikander (Tomb Raider, 2018). Sophie has been training intensively for the physically demanding role.

The Tomb Raider franchise was rebooted in 2013 with a humanized Lara Croft, followed by Rise of the Tomb Raider (2015) and Shadow of the Tomb Raider (2018), keeping the adventure alive across games and films.
