Toronto/CMEDIA: While supporting Toronto’s role as a Host City, FIFA26 Canada and the City of Toronto would reportedly recruit approximately 3,000 volunteers to support fan experiences, accessibility services, media operations, event logistics and more.

Included in this program would be FIFA Fan Festival™ support and serving as Host City Ambassadors outside stadiums, airports, transit hubs and visitor sites.
While undergoing valuable training, volunteers will gain skills and connections, as well as recognition for their contributions to this once-in-a-lifetime event.
FIFA World Cup 26™ Volunteer Centre
Being located at Humber Polytechnic’s Lakeshore Campus, G Cottage, 17 Colonel Samuel Smith Park Dr., the Volunteer Centre will be the central location for recruitment, training, accrediting and outfitting volunteers.
Approximately 350 volunteers will form Toronto’s “Starting Line-Up” to support the recruitment phase by bringing the Volunteer Centres to life and guiding candidates through their journey.
With more than 387,000 volunteer applications received for Canada, around 248,000 were for Toronto
Activities at the centre include: Volunteer Tryouts: recruitment experience for candidates (Nov to Dec), Role-specific training (Apr 2026), and Uniform and accreditation distribution (May to June 2026)
Humber Polytechnic Partnership & FIFA World Cup 26™ Volunteer Centre
As an Official Toronto World Cup 2026™ Host City Supporter, Humber Polytechnic has partnered with the City of Toronto to help manage the local delivery of Toronto’s FIFA World Cup 26™ volunteer program including recruitment, training, scheduling and recognition of Host City volunteers.
Located at Humber’s Lakeshore Campus (G Cottage), the FIFA World Cup 26™ Volunteer Centre, Toronto will serve as the hub for volunteer activities.
Drawing on Humber’s expertise in event and sport management, this partnership draws on its diverse student body and strong community connections to ensure a high-quality volunteer program that reflects Toronto’s diversity and spirit.
FIFA World Cup 26™
Kicking off on Friday, June 12, 2026, Toronto will host six FIFA World Cup 26™ matches with the first-ever men’s FIFA World Cup match on Canadian soil, featuring Canada’s Men’s National Team.
A round of 32 match would be hosted by Toronto on Thur, July 2, 2026.
An economic impact assessment FIFA release, prepared by Deloitte Canada on Dec 24 estimated that FIFA World Cup 26™ could generate up to $940 million in positive economic output for the Greater Toronto Area.
Included in this is a projected $520 million in GDP growth, $340 million in labor income and $25 million in government revenue, and also expected to create more than 6,600 jobs between June 2023 and Aug 2026, providing a substantial boost to the region’s economy.
